Richter-Helm BioLogics was founded as Pharma Biotechnologie Hannover in 1987 and was one of the first companies in Germany to manufacture recombinant proteins in accordance with cGMP guidelines. In 1997, it was incorporated into the Strathmann Group as a subsidiary of Strathmann GmbH & Co. KG and was renamed Strathmann Biotec. Having been sold to the Gedeon Richter Plc. and HELM AG pair of companies around the middle of 2007, Strathmann Biotec GmbH & Co. KG continued trading under the name of Richter-Helm BioLogics GmbH & Co. KG. When Richter-Helm BioTec GmbH & Co. KG was set up at the beginning of 2008, Richter-Helm BioLogics was able to concentrate on its mainstream operations, contract development and contract manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals, transferring the areas of Business Development, Marketing & Sales and the management of its own product developments to Richter-Helm BioTec.

The development and production of biopharmaceuticals complements the portfolio of growth factors and cytokines already manufactured here. Synergy effect due to the integration of research activities conducted by Strathmann AG, Hamburg in the field of biotechnology.
